My DX-8DR have a problem on speaker... I can't turn it loud.. It's ok for the first time.. but then.. the speaker is to low to hear and sound like the speaker is blow..
I reset it to factory default setting then take out the batteries, let it like that for a night.. then turn it back on... yes it work.. the sound is ok again.. but for about 1/2 hour only... then the sound going low again...
I have no idea... just send it back for a warranty claim...
Look's like that my VX-8DR really defect... according to my dealer, after 2 day's examining my VX-8DR, he found that my unit were defect coz it can't be used more than 3 hour's as the unit will getting hot and the speaker sound gone.. hope that it can be replace 1 to 1... missed it already... :(
Get my VX-8DR from the dealer few days back using a courier.. the dealer said that my VX-8DR wasn't have any problems at all.. but my testing result still shows it was malfunction... now it's became worse.. I don't know what was the dealer do to my unit.. now I have to set the DCS tone for the repeater access for every frequency... the ARS was not working.. it still at Off.. could not turn it on.. now the receiving signal also very poor.. could not hit repeater.. already compared it with VX-7R.. I'm very frustrated...
Already contacted Tim from Vertex.. He advice to send the unit to Vertex for inspections... hmm.... the last what I should do.... yeah.. send it direct to Vertex.. but 1 more problems.. no original purchase receipt... haiiyyooooo.... what kind of dealer laaa....
ARS stand for Automatic Reapeater Shift.. this function only available at US.. I think the setting is the repeater setting that give the ARS function on to any ARS device.. You might want to visit this page - http://www.kb2ljj.com/data/yaesu/VX-8R.htm for VX-8 mods.. I already tried it.. :D

My unit also can set ARS into on.. don't know what the problem..do you found any solution regarding it beside sending the unit back to vertex?
